You Are Your Own Rescue

Help can come, but the turning point usually arrives when you decide to move.

Waiting for someone else to fix our situation keeps us stuck. Support matters, but agency matters more.

Rescue begins with small actions—making the call, updating the résumé, asking for counseling, cleaning one corner of the room.

Claiming Responsibility

List the parts of your challenge that you can influence. Focus on those instead of dwelling on what others might do.

Set gentle deadlines. Momentum builds when we keep promises to ourselves.

Inviting Support Wisely

Tell a friend or mentor what you are working toward so they can cheer you on.

Accept help as a supplement, not a replacement, for your own action. Collaboration feels better when you already have motion.

Keep it with You

  • Identify one step you can take today without waiting for anyone else.
  • Share your plan with someone who will hold you kindly accountable.
  • Celebrate progress, no matter how small, to reinforce your agency.
